  • Devil Master – Bloody Dreams (Review)

    Band:Devil Master
    Release:Bloody Dreams
    Genre:Black Metal, Crust
    Country:America
    Release Date:4th of September, 2026
    Released viaRelapse Records

Psychedelic sounds emerge from the darkest and creepiest dungeon as Devil Master finally return. And they are bringing their third and newest album Bloody Dreams with them, set to be released on September 4th via Relapse Records.

Without wasting any time, the band’s newest work kicks off in typical Devil Master fashion. Of course, their playful guitar riffs can’t be missing. Black ‘n’ roll meets a good dose of punk. The drums and guitars work perfectly together. Overall, everything feels noticeably more melodic compared to Devil Master‘s previous records. Especially on tracks like “Trembling at Dusk“. Every now and then, however, the band isn’t afraid to wander back into darker territory, blending black metal elements perfectly into their songwriting. In general, the songs feel a little more mature than Devil Master’s earlier material.

But don’t panic, Bloody Dreams is anything but polished. The album still has plenty of rough edges, giving the whole thing more depth and its own character. “Death Anthem” brings a certain playfulness to the table while still carrying that dirty punk rock attitude.

The title track, on the other hand, feels like the musical version of an episode of “Tales from the Crypt“. With spooky season right around the corner, the timing couldn’t be more fitting. Big nightmare vibes.

Farewell Waltz to Unfortunate’s Palace” is a ten-minute banger and works perfectly as the album’s closer. It’s a true display of everything Devil Master are capable of. Packed with psychedelic finesse and a real firework of riffs, the track is probably the absolute highlight of their newest work.

Bloody Dreams contains some of the best material Devil Master have written so far. An ideal mixture of punk, black ‘n’ roll, psychedelic elements and well-placed guest appearances gives their newest record that little something extra. It feels familiar enough to immediately recognize Devil Master, while still showing how much the band has grown as songwriters.
