Record Stores Nationwide Unite For Women In Vinyl’s International Women’s Day – 1% Drive On March 8th

Participating retailers to donate 1% of March 8 sales to support mentorship, scholarships, and education in the vinyl industry
March 2, 2026 — This International Women’s Day (March 8), record stores across the country are coming together in support of Women in Vinyl through a one-day national fundraising initiative aimed at creating more access and opportunity within the vinyl and recorded music industries.
On Saturday, participating retailers will donate one percent of their in-store and online sales to Women in Vinyl, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting women and underrepresented communities working across vinyl production and the broader music ecosystem.
The Women in Vinyl 1% Drive is designed as a nationwide, virtual record store “block party,” giving independent retailers a simple way to make a tangible impact with funds raised directly supporting mentorship programs, scholarships, and educational initiatives that help create pathways into careers across the vinyl supply chain.
“Every opportunity starts with someone opening a door,” said Women in Vinyl founder Jenn D’Eugenio. “The Women in Vinyl 1% Drive helps us open more of those doors, creating clear pathways into the vinyl industry through community, education, mentorship, and support for people who may not otherwise see a place for themselves.”
Participating stores include Bull Moose, Vinyl Street Co., Musicology Co., Queen B Vinyl Café, Indie Earth, Streetlight Records (San Jose and Santa Cruz), Monster Music & Movies, and The Record Exchange, among others.
Throughout the day, stores will be celebrating in their own ways, from spotlighting women artists, running themed promotions, to sharing posts across social media in support of Women in Vinyl’s mission.
Women in Vinyl is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to support women and gender-expansive individuals in the vinyl record industry through mentorship, education, and advocacy.

Track Premiere: Void of Light – “Mirrorings”
With “Mirrorings,” you’re not only getting a track premiere from Scottish post-metal sextet Void of Light, you’re getting a full 20 percent of the their five-track debut full-length, Asymmetries. Clocking in at 10 minutes, “Mirrorings” offers a pretty solid introduction to these gloomy Glaswegians, a dynamic epic that shifts from pummeling sludge to melodic shoegaze-inspired dynacism. The three-guitar lineup—Ali Lauder (vocals), Nick Collins (guitar), Simon Mather (guitar), Marc Carey (guitar/vocals), Dan Irving (bass), Stephen Wilkinson (drums)—weaves a dense web across the sprawling, melancholy track. You practically get a full album’s worth of material in this singular composition.

Asymmetries is set for release on CD and digitally via Ripcord Records on April 3. Place your preorder here.
The band had this to say about its new single and album:
“Asymmetries is the culmination of two years of hard work and exploration. Across the album’s five tracks, we set out to shape our own sound within a well-established scene, creating something that genuinely feels like ours. The closing track, “Mirrorings,” brings the album’s introspective themes into a final, defining moment and represents what we feel is our strongest offering so far.”

Metallica Add Six More Dates to Residency at The Sphere Due to “Unbelievable Demand”
In a bit of news that’s unlikely to shock anyone, Metallica‘s residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas was insanely popular. In fact, it’s so popular despite its exorbitant price that the band announced this afternoon that they’re adding six more shows to their plans.
According to a statement shared by Metallica, there was an “unbelievable demand” for the initial run of tickets, hence the need to add more shows. With these additional dates, the Metallica Las Vegas Sphere residency went from eight to 14 shows.
Though they announced that these six dates were added, Metallica has yet to announce when those shows will take place. As it stands, the eight previously announced shows will take place on most of the Thursdays and Saturdays of October. They’ll play October 1 and 3; 15 and 17; 22 and 24; and 29 and 31. Naturally, that means two of the six new dates could include 8 and 10, but we don’t have any official confirmation at this time.
As for ticket prices, it should be noted that the initial run of shows is currently under pre-sale, with general ticket sales starting this Friday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. As for these six new dates, the pre-sale for those will start this Wednesday, March 5 currently has an ongoing fan-club presale.
