newshapes Share Gorgeous New Track ‘falling away’
newshapes have continued their ascent with a new track that pulls on the best bits of emo’s long and storied history.

Titled ‘falling away’, it’s a song that feels wonderfully familiar but wholly fresh. A blend of the melodies, the intricacies and emotions that have bolstered the best of British pop-punk and emo over the last 20 years, the band are firing on all cylinders. It’s made to be screamed along to, and plenty of pairs of lungs will be giving out when they drop it on tour later this year.
They had this to say about the track and what it means to them, stating, “falling away continues the new story that ‘baptise’ started for us, in more than one way. 2025 saw us face our biggest challenges yet and come out stronger and louder than ever before, and we look at 2026 as our chance to prove that we have what it takes to ‘fly the flag’ for alternative music from Scotland. As a band, we are proud that no two songs in our catalogue sound the same. Our music shares that desire to constantly evolve and never let ourselves become predictable, and we’ve taken that to a new level with everything that’s coming. There’s such a growing space for heavy music in today’s world, and we’re always looking to push the boundaries where rock, pop and metal collide – to bring people with different tastes, backgrounds and lived experiences together under one roof.”
Speaking of tour, you’ll be able to catch newshapes on the road very soon as they open for never easy alongside Love Is Noise.

Top 10 Lobo Songs
When “Me and You and a Dog Named Boo” climbed the charts in 1971, it introduced millions of listeners to the warm and relaxed style of singer songwriter Lobo. Behind the stage name was Roland Kent LaVoie, a musician from Florida who had spent years working in regional bands before finally breaking through on the national stage. That single became the first of several major hits that established him as one of the most recognizable soft rock voices of the early 1970s. Lobo was born on July 31, 1943, in Tallahassee and was raised in Winter Haven by his mother
